Karnataka Cabinet Reshuffle: Shivakumar Retains Finance, Kharge Gets Home

CM D.K. Shivakumar keeps the finance portfolio, while Krishna Byre Gowda takes charge of Bengaluru's development bodies.

Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has retained the finance portfolio in a fresh round of cabinet reallocations, according to a notification issued by the Governor’s office. Priyank Kharge has been handed the home department, while Krishna Byre Gowda has been given charge of the Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) and the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), among other limited city-focused responsibilities.

The reshuffle comes as the state government looks to sharpen its administrative priorities ahead of the second half of the year. Political observers note that keeping finance with the Chief Minister signals continuity in the state’s fiscal approach, while the Bengaluru-specific allocation to Byre Gowda reflects a renewed focus on the capital’s infrastructure challenges.
