Tata Electronics, ASML Sign Deal for India’s First Chip Fab

The $11 billion agreement with the Dutch equipment maker supports a 300mm wafer fabrication plant in Gujarat's Dholera.

Tata Electronics has signed a strategic agreement with Netherlands-based semiconductor equipment maker ASML to support India’s first front-end chip fabrication facility, under construction in Dholera, Gujarat. The 300mm wafer plant is backed by an estimated investment of $11 billion and is expected to produce chips for the automotive, mobile device, industrial, and AI sectors.

ASML CEO Christophe Fouquet said India’s rapidly expanding semiconductor sector “offers long-term opportunities,” adding that the company intends to deepen its partnerships in the region as the industry matures. The deal is seen as a significant step in India’s broader push to build a domestic chip manufacturing base under the India Semiconductor Mission.
